The least stunning of his concoctions - a spooky forest, a smoky inn, an attic bedchamber, a great gothic bedroom - are remarkably atmospheric, providing the sense of time and place nothing else in the show approximates. But his most impressive creations comprise a graveyard (complete with coffins) that floats in from the fly space, and a mammoth drawbridge emerging from complete demonic blackness. Spectacle, yes, but eminently theatrical."
